In 1992 Jim Mullin & Denise Lisson offered me a solo exhibition at their Hammer Gallery. This was my first opportunity to showcase my constructions since the Hamilton Artists Inc. in 1980 although I’d had a solo exhibition of my woodcuts at the Carnegie Gallery in 1988. During that time I had been in number of group exhibits and had built a body of work, this was a great opportunity. It was a great opening & the show was well attended. The Hamilton Spectator’s Paul Benedetti wrote a fine article titled “This Art Is Garbage” the only downside being he called me Joe Carter. The Toronto Blue Jays were hot that year led by said Joe Carter and headed for the World Series, I guess Paul was a huge baseball fan. As I always say “anything is better than nought”.
